Because as the Bible simply states it in Acts 4:12, "There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's salvation.
Salvation is the deliverance from the coming wrath of God in His final judgment of sin, and deliverance from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death and separation from God.
Some men believe that there are many ways in which an individual can find God. We believe the Bible clearly teaches that there is only one way for anyone to find God. Jesus states in John 14, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me."The Bible teaches that all of us are sinners, separated from God and on our way to eternity apart from God. Romans 3:23 states "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Sin is anything that does not measure up to the perfect righteousness of God. Sin is contrary to the character of God, so when we compare ourselves to the character of the holy, righteous, merciful, gracious God, we always fall short because of our sin. Our sin separates us from God, and if it continues to be the character of our lives, that separation from God will be eternal.
Romans 6:23 states it this way, "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life". According to this verse, death or separation from God is the ultimate reward of a life lived in sin. The definition of death is separation. Death in this life separates us from our physical body. The death spoken of in this passage, though is spiritual death - an eternal separation from God. Sin is a terrible thing and is mankind's most basic problem. Sin is destructive. It is the underlying cause of and reason that disease and death exists on our planet. Adam and Eve set the course for us when they sinned against God. God pronounced death as the greatest consequence of sin.
The wonderful news, though is that God has a remedy for sin. He forgives it. God is in the sin forgiveness business. When He forgives our sin, we become a child of God. We are brought into His family. Romans 5:8 states, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." The Lord sent His own Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sin. He took our death sentence on Himself and died for us - in our place. The great news is that He did not remain dead. On the third day following His crucifixion, Christ arose from the grave. He appeared to many people before ascending back to heaven until He comes again to judge the world.
Ephesians 2:8,9 states it this way, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." According to this passage only one thing can save you. Salvation comes only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation becomes a reality in your life when you understand that you are a sinner, and that you need a Savior to take away your sin. that Savior is Jesus Christ. You must recognize that Christ died for your sins and that if you truly trust in Him for your salvation, He will give you eternal life in Him.
